New Horizons in Biopharma Treatments
In recent years, biological drugs have been developed for many diseases. These drugs have shown significant success in more complex diseases, where chemical (small molecule) drugs have not been that effective. According to The Business Research Company Market report, the biological drugs market was estimated at $258 billion in 2018, and continues growing at a compound annual growth rate of 12.4%.
These developments have been enabled by the invention of the chromatography separation techniques that allow researchers to purify antibodies and proteins to very high purity using various methods of separation such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, size exclusion, and others.
