Enhancing Prescription Adherence
Medication adherence, or remembering to take one’s medication, is one of the bigger challenges facing patients on long-term prescriptions. For patients who need to take multiple pills at different times of day, the situation is particularly difficult to navigate.
This issue caught the attention of former US Surgeon General C Everett Koop, who famously noted in 1985, “Drugs don’t work in patients who don’t take them” (1). However, despite being recognised as a serious problem by the highest levels of the medical community over 30 years ago, the medical establishment has not yet found a sure-fire way to ensure medication adherence.Yoav Hoshen at Water.IO (July 2019)
