Central Research Laboratories Launches Single-Use Gamma Bags for Biopharma and Life Science Applications
25 March 2025 -- Minnesota, US -- Central Research Laboratories (CRL), a global leader in the remote-handling industry, is launching Single-Use Gamma Bags that have been designed to undergo gamma-sterilization procedures. CRL Single-Use Gamma Bags are an addition to the company’s Single-Use Beta Bag product line, which also includes the recently launched Single-Use Double Bags.
Engineers at CRL developed Single-Use Gamma Bags in response to requests from life-science customers who require the use of gamma irradiation rather than steam sterilization. These bags are constructed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for compatibility with gamma-sterilization processes. They also feature a gray silicon seal that provides easy visual differentiation from CRL Single-Use Beta Bags and Double Bags, which have a black silicon seal.
“With many essential biopharmaceutical and hygienic processes relying on gamma irradiation, the development of single-use transfer solutions that can withstand gamma sterilization has become crucial,” said Chris Gooding, Vice President and General Manager of CRL. “We are proud to offer a solution that sets a new standard in sterile transfer technology, which helps to ensure uncompromising safety and efficiency for pharmaceutical and biotech applications that require adherence to the highest levels of sterile manufacturing.”
Like all CRL Single-Use Beta Bags, the Gamma Bags provide contamination-free transfer of components into or out of isolation for aseptic-manufacturing processes. Made in the USA and assembled in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom, Gamma Bags are an ideal solution for the sterilization and transfer of items such as syringes, needles, culture media and lab consumables. CRL is currently taking orders for the new Single-Use Gamma Bags, with shipments expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
